You Versus The Peloton

Have you ever wondered how you would stack up against cyclists in the Tour de France? Trust me, I have no illusions of hanging with any of them for more than a couple of minutes. But exactly how much of a difference is there between the best of the best, versus the average Joe (or Jane)?

Bicycling Magazine recently posted some stats for weekend warrior cyclists to compare themselves against the Armstrong's and Contador's of the world:

* Avg speed on flat terrain: 1718 mph (you); 2528 mph (TDF rider)

* Avg speed on mountainous terrain: 910 mph (you); 2125 mph (TDF)

* Miles ridden in a week: 75140 (you); 700800 (TDF)

* Calories consumed on a ride: 200450 (you); 4,0005,000 (TDF)

* Bottles of water consumed during a 3-hour ride: 23 (you); 420 (TDF)

* Hours of sleep per week: 4050 (you); 70 (TDF)
