Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests Announce Open Dates

A number of recreation and camp sites in the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests will be openning over the next several weeks.

The following is a list of sites that open April 1.

Nantahala National Forest campgrounds:
* Cheoah Point
* Rattler Ford Group Camp
* Appletree Group Camp
* Standing Indian
* Hurricane Campground
* Van Hook Glade

Nantahala National Forest day use areas:
* Finger Lake
* Cliffside Lake
* Cherokee Lake
* Nantahala Gorge facilities
* Standing Indian
* Wayah Bald
* Cheoah Point Beach

Pisgah National Forest campgrounds:
* Curtis Creek
* Lake Powhatan
* Sunburst
* North Mills River

Pisgah National Forest day use areas:
* Lake Powhatan
* North Mills River
* Old Fort
* Table Rock

Off-highway Vehicle trails:
* Wayehutta (Nantahala National Forest)
* Brown Mountain (Pisgah National Forest)

Mid-April openings:
* Black Mountain campground
* Briar Bottom Group Camp
* Carolina Hemlocks campground and day use
* Mortimer campground
* Cradle of Forestry
